Connected in The Word 7-24-25
And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses… Colossians 2:13

Whenever I am gone for a few days and then get back to these devotions, my head is so full of ideas that I’m often not even sure where to start. I saw God at work in His beautiful creation (I got to see some of that in northern Michigan this week). God was working this week through the Young Adult Volunteers at the LCMS Youth Gathering in New Orleans as they cheered and sang God’s praises as youth entered the Convention Center to drown out the protesters from Westboro Baptist (My high school son thought that was cool). I saw God at work through conversations with total strangers (Who knew I’d meet a guy at our bed and breakfast working on a Christian mentoring program for high school boys).

God is always at work whether you are on vacation, navigating protesters, or simply heading off to work today. I hope that today can be a day where you can see God at work even in the simple things of life. Did you know that God is even at work though YOU today? In the waters of Baptism and by the powerful working of the Spirit through the Word, God has forgiven all your sins and made you alive in Christ! GOD WORKS THROUGH YOU even in the mundane moments of life.

My wife and I were listening to a Bible Study by Dr. Chad Foster, an LCMS Pastor from the Detroit area on our drive home yesterday. If you enjoy listening to Bible Studies, I HIGHLY recommend this guy (https://immlutheran.org/teaching/). In the session we were listening to he made the point that God is constantly at work in EVERY MOMENT we encounter, and at work through us as we encounter those moments. As you navigate the moments of life, don’t get stuck in past moments and don’t get anxious about future moments. Instead, recognize that God is at work in THIS moment because He has placed you (His Forgiven Child) in this moment!
