Connected in The Word 9-3-25

Come into his presence with singing! Psalm 100:2b

There are certain people in life that are just nice to have around.  I’m not talking about the mechanics, doctors, or computer experts in our lives who can fix things for us – Although they are extremely nice people to have around.  Instead, I’m talking about the people in our lives that are just… NICE TO HAVE AROUND!  Being in their presence is a gift.  It might be a friend, a spouse, a child, or even a coworker or a neighbor.  When you are with them – It almost makes your heart want to sing!

There are of course people in my life that make my heart want to sing when I am in their presence.  Being around these people I feel safe, understood, and valuable.  I am tremendously grateful to have these people in my life.  In Psalm 100 we are invited to come into the Lord’s presence with singing.  We are called to enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise!  Ever since I was a little child, I’ve always loved being in the Lord’s presence!  Being in His presence I felt safe, understood, and valuable.

Living life in the “presence of God” is not some radical or extreme lifestyle that requires special prayers, rituals, or experiences!  God has come to us and made His dwelling place with us in and through Jesus!  Jesus, the Word of God, comes to us through the Gifts of Word & Sacrament.  Through the working of the Holy Spirit, we are one with God and with all believers.  I go to church, I pray, and I live life with a song in my heart because I get to live my life in the presence of the Lord.  In Him, I am safe, understood, and valuable!
