Connected in The Word 2-26-26

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

I constantly have a lot on my mind, on my plate, and on my calendar.  I sometimes feel like an air traffic controller trying to keep a thousand planes from crashing.  There are things at work, at home, and in the world that are constantly on my radar.  Sometimes I feel like a clown at the circus trying to juggle burning torches without hurting myself or those around me.  Honestly there’s an adrenaline rush that comes with trying to see how many irons I can keep in the fire at once.

Now there are times when I clear my calendar, land all the planes, and stop juggling.  I do this for things like family vacations.  I intentionally set aside everything else because on vacation my family is the only thing that matters.  But every now and then life throws me a terrifying curveball, and all the planes I’m trying to land, torches I’m trying to juggle, and meetings I’m to attend become completely unimportant.  If I get a call that my wife was in a car accident, test results confirm cancer, or that my child is missing – Suddenly nothing else matters.  In these moments we pray for God’s mercy.

There will be a day (The Last Day) when Christ returns.  There will be no more juggling, landing planes, or even family vacations.  On that day, only one thing matters – JOHN 3:16!  On that day (and really on every day) the only thing that truly matters is God’s great love for you in and through Jesus.  Today you might be having fun managing the many planes on your radar, or you might be dealing with just one terrifying thing on your radar.  Whatever the case please remember – God so loved YOU, that He gave His one and only Son…!
