Connected in The Word 11-20-25

He has rescued us from the power of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1:13-14

If you’ve been following along with this week’s devotions, you know they have all focused on our shared Rescue Story.  We were lost in the darkness of our sin, and God rescued us and transferred us into the Kingdom of His Beloved Son.  Living under the rule and reign of Jesus, we have redemption, forgiveness of sins, and life eternal.

God rescued us through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.  He didn’t rescue us with magic words, an army of angels, or with any help from any of us.  He did it all in and through Jesus.  Everything about your salvation is wrapped up in Jesus.  Our Epistle Reading this weekend contains one of the most beautiful descriptions of Jesus found anywhere in the Bible.  I have included it in its entirety below.  Sometimes when writing a devotion, it’s better to just point people straight to the Word of God.  The words below are from Colossians 1:15-20.

“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.”
