Connected in The Word 11-19-25
He has rescued us from the power of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1:13-14
So, what’s your story? This is a question that when asked sincerely and answered honestly should lead to a very personal and significant conversation. Every story is unique, and every story is valuable. Our stories include joys and sorrows, victories and losses, brokenness and redemption, and of course our stories include other people. I think other people play a significant role in all our stories.
But what if I asked you to give your story a title, or to categorize your story? What if I also asked you to pick a main character in your story other than yourself? What KIND of story do you have, and WHO has influenced your story the most? These are easy questions for me to answer. My story is a RESCUE STORY and the main character in my story is JESUS! In and through Jesus, I now have a story that includes forgiveness, redemption, and life. My story now includes beauty, purpose, love, and hope even in the face of my sin and the brokenness and pain of this life. God rescued me from the power of darkness through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Through the power of the Water and the Word in Baptism God Has drawn me into the Rescue Story of His Beloved Son.
I think the most beautiful part of my story is that I share it with SO MANY OTHER PEOPLE! My story is NOT unique. It is the story of all believers in Jesus. You have a Rescue Story, and the main character is Jesus! There’s a great song by Big Daddy Weave entitled “My Story” and I highly recommend giving it a listen. I will include a link below, but honestly, I have no idea if it will work. Just Google it and you should find it right away.
