See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. 1 John 3:1a
The verse above begins with John telling us to “SEE” something. What is it that John wants us to see? He wants us to see the GREAT LOVE God has given to us. God gives us this great love so that we can be called Children of God! John wants us to see the Truth that we are known by God as His Beloved Children because of His GREAT LOVE for us revealed in Jesus!
So, do you SEE it? Can you SEE the love God has for you? Do you SEE yourself as a Child of God? Tomorrow, November 1st is All Saints Day – Do you SEE yourself as one of God’s Saints, forgiven and redeemed by the blood of Jesus?
I’ll be honest, sometimes the Truth is hard to SEE. The world does not see me as a Child of God. There are days when I don’t look like a Child of God. Sometimes I just don’t SEE how God could love me, or how He could possibly have good use of me. But Paul reminds us in 2 Cor. 5:7 that, “we walk by faith, not by sight.” So, when John tells us to SEE God’s love, and to SEE the purpose of His love (to make us His children) – He is telling us to BELIEVE, KNOW, TRUST, and to FIX OUR EYES OF FAITH on Jesus who is the Author and Perfector of our faith. I guess you might even say, “Seeing is Believing”! See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and SO WE ARE!
