Connected in The Word 10-21-25

“If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” Rom. 8:31b-32

Most people have heard the words, “THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE.”  I would go so far as to say most people agree with the concept that the truth will set you free.  Sometimes the truth is hard to hear and even harder to admit but can any of us deny the feeling of relief that comes when masks are set down, lights are turned on and lies and deception come to an end.  The truth can be uncomfortable, humbling, and even painful, but in the end the truth is always better (and I would suggest even feels better).

Jesus doesn’t just speak the truth – Jesus is The Truth.  Jesus doesn’t just speak the word of God – Jesus is the Word of God!  The Truth comes to us, dwells with us, and is revealed in us through Jesus!  When I look at the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, I (through the gift of faith) see the Truth very clearly.  I AM A SINNER.  GOD LOVES ME DEARLY.  JESUS PAID FOR MY SIN.  This Truth gives me peace, comfort, and sets me free from my guilt and shame.  Confessing that I am broken and believing that God loves me enough to give me Jesus – FEELS REALLY GOOD!

Please don’t make the truth all about saying the right things, doing the right things, or even believing the right things.  Jesus is the Truth!  Jesus is the Word!  Jesus said the right things, did the right things, and believed the right things to set you free!  Jesus (The Word of God, Light of the World, and The Way, The Truth, and The Life) has come to you in your darkness, brokenness, and sin.  So, go ahead and put down the masks, stop living a lie, and rejoice in The Truth that has been revealed – JESUS!  He lived, died, and rose for YOU!
