Connected in The Word 1-26-26
He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? Micah 6:8
Happy Lutheran Schools Week! Lutheran Schools have been a tremendous blessing to my family. Our kids thrived here at Immanuel Lutheran School in Belvidere (preschool – 8th grade), and then at Rockford Lutheran High School after that. My oldest son continued on to Concordia University Wisconsin, and my wife and I graduated from Concordia in River Forest, Illinois (all Lutheran universities). Please call the school office here at Immanuel (815) 547-5346 if you would like more information on our amazing Lutheran School!
The Mission Pillar we will be looking at this week is SERVE GENEROUSLY! Our first Mission Pillar was BE DISCIPLED. God makes disciples and God strengthens disciples through His Gifts of Word & Sacrament. Last week’s Mission Pillar was LIVE CONNECTED. Since we’ve been “Connected to Christ for Life” we now get to LIVE CONNECTED to one another in and through Christ – Forgiving, loving, and building each other up on this journey of life.
SERVE GENEROUSLY reminds us that God doesn’t just make us holy and righteous in Christ – HE ALSO MAKES US USEFUL IN CHRIST! When God makes disciples, He doesn’t set them up on a shelf to admire – He puts them to work in the Kingdom! The best thing about Immanuel Lutheran School is that we tell kids about Jesus. But the next best thing is that we give them an amazing education, teach them to live justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with their God. The students at Immanuel are going to make a difference in this world. Here they are Discipled. Here they Live Connected. Here they learn that God wants to use them to Serve Generously! It’s only appropriate that Micah 6:8 greets people as they walk into our lower level school entrance!
