Connected in The Word 1-22-26
And great crowds followed him from Galilee and the Decapolis, and from Jerusalem and Judea, and from beyond the Jordan. Matthew 4:25
If you’ve ever been on a journey with other people, then you know doing life with other people can be challenging. Sometimes the journey is short, like a car ride to school with other neighborhood kids. Sometimes the journey is a little longer, like a two-week bus tour out west. Other times the journey can last much longer, like doing life with team members, coworkers, or family and friends. We take some of these journeys with large groups of people, and we take some of these journeys with just one other person. My favorite earthly journey is the one I’m taking with my wife. Regardless of what our journey looks like, if the journey is taken with other people – We Live Connected to those people!
As followers of Jesus, we are on a journey, and we Live Connected to ALL Believers in Jesus Christ throughout the world and throughout the ages. We Live Connected with those who have died in the faith and now rest with Jesus. We Live Connected to Christians in villages we have never been to or even heard of. We also Live Connected to believers in our church, in our community, and in our families. The Christian life (lived under the shadow of the cross) is a journey, but it is not a journey we take alone. You get to Live Connected to other forgiven and redeemed sinners who have been reconciled by the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus!
This Sunday we will be looking at our second Mission Pillar “Live Connected”, and I hope you will make plans to join us. I don’t want to just talk to you about what it looks like to Live Connected. I want you to actually LIVE CONNECTED here at Immanuel. Speaking of Living Connected, this weekend we kickoff Lutheran Schools Week! Lutheran Schools are an amazing way for students and families to Live Connected!
