Connected in The Word 1-20-26
I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment. 1 Corinthians 1:10
“LIVE CONNECTED” is the next Mission Pillar we will be discussing at Immanuel. Here is a summary of what this Mission Pillar is all about.
With the new life that we have in Christ, our Immanuel, God-With-Us, we give and receive the forgiveness that we have through Jesus. As broken and restored sinners, we embrace one another in grace, supporting each other as family reconciled under the cross. We share God’s gifts across generations and encourage one another through the journey of life, together.
There are several things I like about the statement above. First, it acknowledges that we get to “Live Connected” because of the new life we have in Christ. Second, we get to give and receive forgiveness that we have in Jesus! Third, on this journey of life we will all struggle, which means we are going to need to embrace and support one another in mercy and grace. After all, we are all family in Christ!
In the Scripture above, Paul tells the church in Corinth that there should be no divisions among them. That doesn’t mean there will be no differences among them. Our differences are a gift. However, it does mean that in Christ, sin no longer needs to separate them. It means that they live life under the shadow of the cross. Living under the shadow of the cross comes with suffering and hardship, so please be kind to one another and love another. But living under the cross also means we have been reconciled to God and to one another. WE ARE FAMILY! Let’s treat each other like brothers and sisters in Christ!
